We children as pestilent

In the article "we see children as pestilent' author of the article Tanya Byron explains how fear of the youth has always been in our society even dating back 6,000 years in Egypt. However Byron explains that today this fear is worse due to youth's representation in the media causing a morale panic. Older people build these negative stereotypes of the youth which play a larger and more negative impact on the youth then years before. Byron says that since youth are constantly being told they are worthless and the society around them unfortunately youths accept this as the truth and loose the drive to push themselves. Byron also claims that the education system is very narrowing based on an elitist structure of grades and testing rather being supportive or the individual and their individual needs. Byron ends claiming that we are an ephebiphobic society and we should be ashamed of ourselves.
