After receiving results from a survey I produced earlier on who does Tropiika sound like, I decided to investigate further and analyse some of the artists recommended; focusing more on there potential target audiences to see if to Tropiika and my music video would attract said audiences investigated.

The video above is a rough cut of my music video screen to an audience mainly made up of 15- 24 year old - my target demographic in order to receive audience feedback and seek out what I would need to improve. Accompanying the video I devised a survey and asked a group of 25 people there opinion on the video.

Does the type of visuals best suit the background song?  - Why/why not

When asked if my choice of visuals best suited the song 25 out of 24 of those asked answered with postive feedback with some describing it as "quirky" and some stating that the "fast moving visuals suit the up beat of the song".  The only real complaint I received when asking this question was the fact that some of the visuals seemed "rather random" however this may not be a particular problem since I have intended to attempt to bend concept based video styles and narrative based visual styles based on the response of one of my audience research surveys investigating whether concept based music videos best suit techno style music.

Is the Narrative clear in the video?

As mentioned previously in one of my research tasks I had expressed some interest in possibly combining the styles of both narrative and concept based video into my media product in order to attract as a large as an  audience as possible of the typical Daft Punk fan.When asking those is the narrative clear in the video I was mainly investigating whether or not the more abstract and concept videos haven't taken away from the narrative and at worst if this takes away from the quality of the product. Majority of people asked replied with no however did say that this does not take away from the video with some even saying that the concept style worked very well. "The bizarre sequence of shots makes it more fantastic". From the positive responses from the concept based footage It would be advised if I pushed more towards the concept based style rather than narrative for my final edit. Possibly using more "Random" footage in the places in which the visuals go dark such as the 1:02 - 1:08 in between the anscii lips to further push the concept style.

Does the Glitch effect emphasise the sounds of the video?

The purpose of this question was to find out whether the glitch effect worked well in illustrating the scratchy style visually or got in the way of the music video and rendered it hard to watch at times. The response was positive with all those asked responding with yes some commenting that it "made the music much more jumpier" and it was very "computerised like the music is" meaning that it fitted in well with the genre of the song

After watching the video would you consume the music backing the video? 

I wanted to find out whether the video itself would help in promoting the consumption of the backing track. Majority of those asked mentioned that they would consume the music after watching the video saying that the video made the music "non repetitive" making similar parts of the song "new and exciting" and others saying that the video and song made you want to "dance and go crazy". In terms of other responses which were more negative towards the song they only consisted of "its not my type of music". From this feedback this means that my video may do well in working with the backing track however from the negative feedback it also means that my video and the backing track are best suited towards those who consume similar music to this such as Daft punk fans.

Do you find the video Funny?

Majourtiy of people asked this replied with yes however, with some stating "not haha funny but weird funny". From this feedback  and based on my research on the typical Daft punk fan aspects of my video may appeal to this "daft punk fan" profile I have built, since majority of those asked claimed that they were interested in comedy films which hopefully according to this positive response on whether the video is funny would mean that my video could attract those interested in said comic themes . In addition the so called "computerised" style caused by the glitch effect from one of the responses of those asked would further appeal to this Daft punk fan profile I have made (which is also a potential target audience) since this would convey Sci-fi themes.

What do you think could be improved about the scenes in the office?

Suggestions revolving around this question mainly included additions such as video filters on these scenes (1:45 -2:10) to make them seem more stranger like the things shown within such scenes suggested. These video filters included higher saturation or darker colours to make the scenes more distorted.  From this I plan to work with some filters around these scenes and experiment with what would be the best tone to depict during these scenes.

What do you think could be improved about the ending sequence?

When asked this particular question many of the responses revolved around the abruptness of the ending with a lot of people suggesting I add a means of fading out in the track. This should be easy to do via final cut adding a fade to black at the last part of the video as well as the fading the songs volume out .

Do you think the use of sampled stock footage adds to the value of the video?

Answers to this question were mainly positive with those replying stating that the sampled footage looked "glitchy as though it wasn't meant to be there" and that it made it as if "the computers were tracking our data". From this feedback the sampled footage did well in describing a computer virus them to the video as desired and according to other feedback was enjoyed since the variety of sample footage used was diverse in terms of genre.

What did you think the video did successfully?

Amoung the responses received people stated that it was "random and trippy  just like the song and lyrics" and it "followed the pace of the song and the effects were "suitable to the song".

What did you think the video other than office and ending could be improved?

Responses on this question mainly focused on the dark lighting of the earlier scenes which were too dark for the camera I filmed on which caused an unwanted grainy effect, as well as adding a filter to some of the scenes set in the house around 2:12 -2:18 to make them look less ordinary in contrast to the other scenes shown. Using Final cut I aim to rectify these mistakes by looking into filter which may enhance the footage shown within these scenes such as a possible movie like effect towards these scenes to make them look less ordinary and grainy as compared to other scenes.
